How long do you keep my audio files?
We keep your original audio files for 24 hours after upload, then we automatically and permanently delete them. This applies to every file regardless of plan — Free, Pro, or Business.
Your transcribed text stays in your account until you delete it (see How long do you keep my transcription text? for the difference). We delete the source audio because once we've transcribed it, you don't need us to store it — and deleting it minimizes the data we hold about you.
How long do you keep my transcription text?
Your transcription text stays in your account until you delete it manually or delete your account. There's no automatic expiration on the text — it lives in your dashboard as long as you want it there.
The exception is anonymous (signed-out) transcriptions — if you transcribed a file without signing up, we delete both the audio and the text after 24 hours. To keep your transcriptions long-term, just sign up for free and they'll be preserved on your account.
Are my files encrypted?
Yes. Audio files are encrypted in transit via HTTPS/TLS when you upload, and encrypted at rest by our object storage provider (DigitalOcean Spaces). Database connections to our transcription text are also encrypted in transit.
We never expose raw files publicly — every file URL is private and signed. Even if someone intercepted a request, they couldn't read the contents without your account credentials. See Where are my files stored? for the storage details.
Do you train AI models on my data?
No. We never use your audio or transcription text to train AI models, and we never share your data with third parties for training purposes.
We use OpenAI's Whisper API for transcription and OpenAI's chat models for AI chat and summaries — both are configured to not retain your data for training. Your content is processed, returned to you, and then it's done. Read more in our privacy policy.
What rights do I have under GDPR / LGPD?
Under GDPR (Europe) and LGPD (Brazil), you have the right to access, correct, export, and delete your personal data — and we honor those rights for everyone, regardless of where you live.
In practice that means you can:
- Access and edit your account data anytime from account settings.
- Export your data — see Can I export my data?.
- Delete your account and all associated data — see How do I delete my account?.

Can I export my data?
Yes — email us at [email protected] from your account email and we'll send you a full export of your transcriptions and account data.
Under GDPR and LGPD we'll fulfill the request within 30 days, but most requests are completed within a few business days. The export includes your transcribed text, transcription metadata (language, duration, timestamps), and basic account info. Self-serve data export is on our roadmap — until it ships, support handles it for you in a portable JSON format.
Where are my files stored?
Your audio files are stored on DigitalOcean Spaces (S3-compatible object storage), with the default region in NYC3 (New York, USA). Your transcription text is stored in our PostgreSQL database, hosted alongside the application.
Both stores are encrypted at rest by the provider and accessed over HTTPS only. Audio files are deleted after 24 hours (see How long do you keep my audio files?). For specific data-residency requirements, contact us at [email protected].
Who can see my transcriptions?
Only you. Your transcriptions are private to your account — no one else can view them through SoundScript.AI, including other SoundScript users.
Internally, our team can technically access transcription text for support purposes (for example, if you email us about a bug), but we don't read your content unless you ask us to. We don't share transcription data with anyone — see Do you train AI models on my data?. If you want to share a transcription externally, download it as PDF, DOC, or TXT and send it yourself.
What happens to my data if I delete my account?
When you delete your account, we permanently and immediately delete all your transcriptions, audio files (if any are still within the 24 hours retention window), AI chat history, summaries, and account data. Any active subscription is cancelled on Stripe at the same time.
The deletion is irreversible — we can't restore your data afterward, even if you contact support. If you'd like a backup before deleting, export your data first.
How do I report a privacy concern?
Email us at [email protected] and tell us what's going on. We take privacy concerns seriously and respond to every message — usually within one business day.
For formal data-protection requests (access, correction, deletion, portability under GDPR or LGPD), include your account email so we can verify the request. For security disclosures (vulnerabilities, suspected breaches), please use the same email and we'll prioritize it. Our full privacy policy is at /privacy and our terms are at /terms.
